THE CHALLENGE
When a multinational mining conglomerate found several of its subsidiaries designated to the U.S. Department of Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons (SDN) list, the consequences were immediate and severe. The company was blocked from obtaining a critical operating license and was losing millions of dollars every week in lost revenue. Time was not a luxury and dissolution of the sanctioned companies was a distinct possibility.
THE SI GLOBAL PARTNERS APPROACH
Through counsel, the company engaged SI Global Partners to conduct an urgent, comprehensive investigation into the facts and circumstances underlying the SDN designation. Over nine months, our team comprised of experienced investigators, forensic accountants, cyber specialists and analysts, overseen by a managing partner, moved methodically and independently across multiple countries and jurisdictions spanning Central America, Europe, and North America to identify, secure and present vital evidence.
The scope of the investigation included:
At the client’s direction, SI Global Partners submitted and presented its report in person, directly to the U.S. Department of Treasury, the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Justice, in support of the client’s delisting application.
THE OUTCOME
A full SDN delisting and approved operating license — an outcome the Treasury cited as warranted by SI Global Partners’ fairness, objectivity, and thoroughness.
SDN delistings are exceptionally rare. This outcome reflects what is possible when investigative work is conducted comprehensively with independence and experience.
When your organization faces a critical compliance crisis, SI Global Partners has the experience, global reach, and credibility to deliver the outcome you need.
THE CHALLENGE
A municipality engaged SI Global Partners to investigate systemic failure by a multinational general contractor to fulfill its contractual obligations to competently repair and replace essential city infrastructure. The complexity of the case was significant: the contract spanned five years and was done in response to a federal consent decree; the estimated loss to the municipality (incomplete work and resulting remediation) was calculated to be over $500 million and implicated numerous sub-contractors, vendors and individuals operating across multiple jurisdictions. The municipality needed comprehensive, large-scale litigation-ready investigative support.
THE SI GLOBAL PARTNERS APPROACH
Over a four-month period, SI Global Partners deployed a team of investigators, forensic accountants, cyber specialists, and intelligence analysts to locate, identify and secure voluminous relevant documentary and digital evidence; conduct numerous interviews; trace money flows through the municipality’s contracting, procurement and invoicing processes; identify incomplete and/or never performed but obligated work, and build a picture of the contractor’s negligent and/or intentional conduct.
THE OUTCOME
Armed with SI Global Partners’ findings, the municipality filed a $1 billion civil complaint against the multinational contractor for negligence and corporate malfeasance.
SI Global Partners’ investigation gave the support and factual basis that the municipality needed to file a well-founded civil complaint, conduct discovery and move defendants towards settlement in what is documented as one of the largest municipal civil actions of its kind.
Whether the goal is regulatory compliance, internal accountability, or litigation support, SI Global Partners builds the case that holds up when it matters most.
THE CHALLENGE
The executive leadership of a major resort and casino engaged SI Global Partners to conduct a comprehensive physical security assessment of the property and its operations, alongside a full review of corporate security policies and procedures. They needed an honest, expert evaluation — and a clear roadmap for improvement.
THE SI GLOBAL PARTNERS APPROACH
SI Global Partners directors personally visited and assessed the property, leaving no aspect of the Resort’s security posture unexamined. Our team engaged directly with local law enforcement agencies, gaming regulators, hotel staff, and emergency service providers to build a complete, ground-level picture of existing security measures and potential vulnerabilities.
From there, our team delivered a comprehensive, prioritized report that included:
SI Global Partners’ engagement did not end with the report. Over the following year, our team provided ongoing implementation critique and additional recommendations — ensuring improvements were executed effectively and sustainably.
THE OUTCOME
The Resort emerged with a significantly strengthened security posture: clearer protocols, better-prepared staff, and a tested crisis response framework that leadership could rely on under real pressure.
When your organization’s safety depends on getting security right, SI Global Partners provides the expertise, independence, and follow-through to make it happen.
THE CHALLENGE
A private equity firm was preparing to acquire a company based in the Middle East and needed comprehensive due diligence on both the company and its principals. With significant capital at stake, surface-level research wasn’t enough. The firm needed to understand not just who they were buying — but who they were really dealing with.
THE SI GLOBAL PARTNERS APPROACH
SI Global Partners deployed a two-track approach that sets our due diligence practice apart from standard providers.
First, our analysts conducted exhaustive research across international records and databases:
Then we went further. SI Global Partners directors engaged their exclusive network of trusted foreign contacts to obtain unpublished, first-hand intelligence on the reputations of the company and its principals — insights that no database or public record could provide.
THE OUTCOME
The firm received a comprehensive report combining rigorous desk research with ground-level intelligence, enabling a fully informed acquisition decision in a complex cross-border transaction.
In cross-border transactions, the difference between a good deal and a costly mistake often comes down to what your due diligence didn’t find. SI Global Partners makes sure there are no blind spots.
When the decision is significant, due diligence can’t stop at the surface. SI Global Partners goes further — so you can move forward with confidence.
